Chemical Formulaü : NH4Cl
Packaging Type : 25 Kg Sacks
Definition and Usage :
It occurs in nature in volcanic regions. Ammonium chloride is easy to produce synthetically, it is often created as a byproduct in other industries. It is obtained as a byproduct in the ammonia soda process, especially in the production of sodium carbonate. It dissolves easily in water and easily forms a slightly acidic solution. It can be used as a source of ammonia. It is used in the production of ammonium perchlorate. It is used as a feed supplement for cattle, in hair shampoos, in textile printing, in glues that bind plywood, as an ingredient in nutrient media for yeasts, in cleaning products, and also finds use in cough medicine. Other applications; as an electrolyte in dry batteries, as a pickling agent in zinc plating and tinning, as soldering fluxes to remove oxide coatings from metals, and to improve the adhesion of solders.
Usage areas
- In the production of dry batteries and some explosives,
- As flux raw material in the galvanizing industry, tin plating, hot dip galvanizing,
- If ALS is used as a surfactant in shampoo production in the cosmetic industry, Ammonium Chloride is used to thicken the shampoo and in the production of some cleaners.
- Refining/purifying some noble metals (such as gold),
- In drying some synthetic adhesives,
- In hardening urea formaldehyde resins (use in the MDF sector) / In the production of plywood adhesives.
- Raw materials and auxiliary materials used in particleboard/MDF production are given below.
- Raw materials;
- Wood (beech, poplar and spruce)
- cotton stalk,
- Urea formaldehyde glue
- Polyvinyl acetate glue,
- Ammonium chloride (33%). (using diluted ammonium chloride)
- It is used in the pharmaceutical industry as an adjuvant (adjuvant: a substance that is included in a prescription and helps to reveal the effects of other drugs), as an expectorant (expectorant) in cough syrups, and due to its diuretic properties.
- In the textile and leather industry, dyeing, printing and polishing cotton,
- Making solder stone to be used in soldering (made by Ahmet Yürekli in Izmir)
- (Ammonia (NH3) and hydrochloric acid (HCl), which occur from the decomposition of salt, remove the oxide layer formed on the surface of the metal, making the metal suitable for soldering.)
- As an additive in the feed industry, to prevent urinary stones in cattle feed,
- Lack of water consumption, calcium - phosphorus imbalance in the feed, and vitamin A deficiency may cause urinary stones in calves. When there is a urinary stone problem, it is necessary to analyze feed and water. Free watering with float waterers, adjusting the calcium-phosphorus balance in the feed, and adding sodium chloride (salt) and ammonium chloride to the ration prevent urinary stones.
- It is used in making fertilizer.
- It is used as an additive in yeast production.
- It is used in making drinks and liqueurs in some countries.
- In biological applications, it is used as an energy source for the microbiological development of organisms.
- As a food additive (in the production of a type of confectionery known as both sweet and salty in Europe and America)
